That is how people in Miller's Lake New Hampshire refered to Bill Miller's son. Bill had married a Vietnamese woman and the two had had a child. Their attitude had not changed in the years since, not even when Bill and his wife died. No one could have known that the whole town would be profoundly changed by Lon. Changed by envy, prejudice, hate, and an unexpected measure of compassion.

This is a Jr. Literary Guild selection, chosen as an outstanding book for older readers (B Group)
